PURPOSE & BYLAW

Our vision is a world where every child and family has access to quality, professional Play Therapy services.


The purpose of the International Consortium of Play Therapy Associations (IC-PTA), a transglobal network of legal entities defined as non-profit, member-driven National Play Therapy Associations (NPTAs), is to promote, support, and strengthen the integrity and quality of professional Play Therapy practice worldwide.

Our overarching objective is to bring the global community together in setting the standard for excellence for Play Therapy practice and ensure that Play Therapy is accessible worldwide and recognized as a valued and vital resource for the holistic development and well-being of children and families.


The IC-PTA aims to:

  • connect National Play Therapy Associations (NPTAs), individual persons, and organizations, who aim for quality professional practice, training, and supervision in their countries

  • mentor the establishment and growth of NPTAs;

  • assist existing and developing NPTAs and individual persons in their application of quality, ethical, and culturally responsive Play Therapy services through training, practice, and supervision as identified in their countries;

  • define competencies and standards for professional Play Therapy practice.

  • define competencies and standards for the application of therapeutic play.
